Rainier NP. We lucked out with the weather and had a great photo shoot. The weather was changing and the winds were coming from the west. A beautiful lenticular cloud formed over the top of the Mt. and a second angry cloud appeared off to the east. The wild flowers had just opened up and presented a classic summer image of Reflection lake and the Mt. in the background. A great outing! Ron

We stayed at Mt. Springs Lodge in Plain. The lodge, Ponderosa, slept 28 and provided a wonderful environment for the gang. My favorite shot of the weekend was the Aspen grove just north of the lodge. Our best and most participated in outing today. Ron

As we were viewing the shorelines of Admiralty Cove I spotted what looked like a Red Tailed Hawk. I got out my binoculars and discovered it was a Short Eared Owl. We switched seats in the SUV and she slowly drove on the side of the road as I called out commands to proceed, slow down and stop. We were able to get within 75 feet of the owl and shoot at 5 frames a second at 250th of a second to capture this shot and several others, including one in flight. A beautiful bird that you would not expect to see at 10:30 in the morning. Ron<br/>

We also got some nice shots of the Burrowing Owls and then stopped in Yakima at the Sportsman Park to find some Wood Ducks. It was a very successful outing producing some really nice images. In addition to the previous birds we watched over 3,000 Canadian Geese land in a 20 mile wind to a small lake off of Highway 26 just west of Othello. Our next Club meeting should be an overdose of Sandhill Cranes. See full view images under the Wildlife Section. Ron

We detoured for three days so we could visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Two on my bucket list that needed to be checked off. The experience was glorious. The views of the Sierras were stunning and the walks through the Giant Forests with snow falling was as peaceful as anything I have ever experienced. I am planning another trip, so that I can take some of the longer hikes and shoot the Sunset from Moro Rock. Seeing the largest trees in the World is truly something every American should experience. Ron
